UWMAF GLOBAL
The United World Martial Arts Federation (UWMAF) has been a transformative force in the world of martial arts for almost nine years, and has earned substantial admiration for its impact.
The organization originated with a vision to unify all karate disciplines for participation in the Olympic Games. The organization’s roots date back to 1992, with the members having a focused mission of securing karate’s place in the Olympics. This mission was successfully achieved at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Although Karate could not retain its position and was eliminated from the Paris & Los Angeles Olympics of 2024 and 2028, we remain committed to getting recognition for martial arts at a global scale.
Five years ago, a new chapter began. Through extensive consultations with various martial arts bodies and practitioners, we embraced a broader mission: to unite and develop all martial arts under one banner. Thus, the current UWMAF, which promotes all martial arts, was born.
UWMAF has strategically partnered with leading martial arts organizations, solidifying its position within the global community. Our affiliations with TAFISA and the path towards joining the BRICS Sports Council are evidence of this ongoing expansion. Additionally, UWMAF Asia's acceptance into TAFISA is another significant milestone in our commitment to creating a united global front for martial arts.
As our recognition flourishes, we remain committed to safeguarding our core values and adopting a professional management approach. In a world where sports are increasingly commercialized, UWMAF stands firm in its dedication to the principles of Budo: respect, discipline, and unity. We are the guardians of this tradition, ensuring that the essence of Budo continues to be the beating heart of martial arts, for our members and for generations to come.
